Today's expression is very useful for anyone ever having to use English on the phone. It's to "put someone on hold".

put (someone) on hold
（人）の電話を保留する
to temporarily disconnect someone from the telephone
電話通話を一時的に中断すること

I phoned the bank but I was put on hold for 15 minutes before I could ever talk to anyone.
銀行に電話しましたが、誰にも取り次いでもらえずに、15分も待たされました。

I like this expression. It reminds me a of very cool GZA song called "liquid swords".  It means assets can be easily liquidated i.e. converted to cash.

liquid assets

property or belongings that can easily be converted into cash

Cash is the most liquid asset of all as it can be “sold” for goods and services instantly with no loss of value.

Hello everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. Looks like the hot weather is going to stay with us for a little bit longer still.

Today’s business English expression is “ have a lot on one’s plate” , which means to be very busy or to have a lot of duties or responsibilities.

Here are some examples.

It’s been really hectic around here recently, we’ve had a lot on our plate what with the opening of the Ropponmatsu school.

“Why don’t you give the new project to John.?”

“No, I don’t think so, he has enough on his plate with the staff training.”

Today’s business English expression is very similar in Japanese too. It’s “in the red” and it means “赤字で”. Kensington is not in the red currently, hopefully your finances aren’t in the red either! See you all soon!

Hi everyone, today I will show you another common phrase that is used in the workplace or in business.
 
“Go the extra mile.”
 
“Go the extra mile” means to do more than what people expect/ to give a better service than other companies.
 
For example.
 
Amazon president, Jeff Bezos is willing to go the extra mile to make sure his customers are satisfied, that’s what has made his company so successful.
 
We go the extra mile for our customers, if they are dissatisfied with our service, we go the extra mile and give them a full refund.
