みなさんこんにちは！
4/2のお花見パーティーは残念でした><
これで2年連続中止になってしまっているのですが、、
もしかして私の雨女っぷりが原因かな？と心配しています。笑
 
ケンジントンのお花見はできませんでしたが、
舞鶴公園や西公園に行かれた方も多いのではないでしょうか？
 
私は太宰府出身なので
お花見と言えば、太宰府政庁跡です！
舞鶴公園に負けないくらい、毎年ほんとに綺麗ですよ〜。

こどもの頃は、ここで遠足があったり
部活の練習に来たり、幾度となく政庁跡の桜は見ているはずですが、
その頃は桜を見てもなんとも思わなかったような気がします。
でもやっぱり大人になると、毎年わざわざでかけて、桜並木を歩くのが楽しみになってくるものですね。
 
そんな桜も今週でもう散ってしまいそうです。
お花見ラストスパートですね！

Hello everyone, a few weeks ago I introduced some very useful expressions to be able to ask and give simple expressions.

Here are a few more expressions to remember when you are travelling or when a foreign tourist asks you on the street.:

①Could you please tell me where the Windsor café is?　　

②Do you know how I can get there?

③Sorry, I don’t know where that is.

④Go straight on Watanabe Street.

⑤Turn left into Kokutai Street.

⑥Go past the Ohori park.

日常英会語レッスン - イギリスのスラング - Knackered

Today I’d like to introduce another very useful British slang word, “Knackered” which quite simply means “tired”. Do you sometimes feel knackered after a long day at work? I sometimes do especially if my first class is at 8:30 in the morning and my last class at 8:30 at night. Well you can enjoy your work and feel knackered at the same time!!

Knackered

‘Knackered’ – a great word and phrase used to describe your tiredness and exhaustion.

Ex. I am absolutely knackered today.

「壊れた」

Knackered - 疲れを表すのに使われる素晴らしい言葉です。

例) 今日は、すっげーくたくただ。

Eikaiwa Cafe classes at Shirouzu Cafe in Kego, Saturday April 22nd, 18:30 Start!

Thank you to all our students that came to our first Eikaiwa cafe class in Tonerico Cafe, Jaimie and I had a great time seeing you and teaching an English class in a different setting.

We are very happy to announce that in addition to our classes at Tonerico Cafe, we are going to start holding English cafe classes at Shirouzu cafe in Kego from this month as well. The date of the first eikaiwa cafe class at Shirouzu will be Saturday, April 22nd at 18:30 and the price will be 1,800yen for an English lesson including coffee.

Please come and join us for a coffee and we are looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Hello everyone, today we will introduce the phrase “in the black”. This means basically to not be losing money. The day after Thanksgiving Day in the US is called Black Friday, it’s one of the busiest shopping days of the year and it’s called Black Friday because it’s the start of the most profitable season for shop owners.

It’s quite interesting that there is a very similar expression in Japanese too, so it’s easy to remember.

Hello everyone Friday is here!

T.G.I.F  ( Thank god it’s Friday) for all of you who are off this weekend.  

Today I would like to introduce a common mistake that my students often make when talking about days off.

Holiday.  
       Everyone seems to associate holiday with 休みの日 but in English holiday means something closer to 休暇 so in English if you wanted to say 明日は休みです。It’s better to say.

I have a day off tomorrow. O
I have a holiday tomorrow. X

1, Holiday
みなさんholidayを休みの日と結びつけますが、英語でholidayは、休暇に近い言葉です。もし明日は休みです。と言いたいときは、下記のようになります。

Tonerico Cafe. Thanks to the people who came to Tonerico Cafe on the 16th it was nice having some of our own students there to make the new students feel less nervous. The lesson was a lot of fun and the set that the cafe served looked really tasty. Just to remind you that we are holding those lessons every 3rd Thursday so the next one will be on the 20th of April.
