Hello. Today I’m going to give you a few useful phrases you need for when you go clothes shopping. Firstly though there is one thing that most of my students find a bit tricky and that is using plurals to talk about clothing.
We always talk about the following things in the plural because they are known as a pair of……
trousers (U.K)
pants (U.S.A)
glasses
shoes
socks
tights
shorts
jeans
So we would never say… It’s nice trousers. We have to say… Those are nice trousers.
Here are a few useful phrases for when you are looking for when you are clothes shopping.
I'm looking for .... 〜を探しています。
Can I try it on? 試着していいですか？
How's the size? サイズはいかがですか？
Perfect, I'll take it. ぴったりだ、それにします.
It’s a bit too loose. ちょっとゆるすぎます。
Have you got it in a small? それの小さいのはありますか？
Do you have them in black? それの黒いのはありますか？
Remember that when it comes time to pay we use in cash , but we say by card.
How would you like to pay? ご希望のお支払い方法は？
In cash please. 現金でお願いします。
By icredit card please. クレジットカードでお願いします。
