itchy feet

To have itchy feet means that you feel like it’s time to get out of here and go somewhere new, it doesn’t always mean travel, it could be when you feel like moving to another place or changing jobs too.

“I’m getting itchy feet again, I think it’s time to start planning my next holiday.”

“I’ve been at this company for 10 years now, I’m getting itchy feet and I think it may be time to move on.”

Hit the road

Hit the road means to leave a place

“Thanks so much for inviting us we had a lovely time but I’m afraid it’s time we hit the road, I start early tomorrow”

In the same boat

In the same boat means to be in the same situation as another person.

“Don’t feel shy about coming to the party next weekend, we are all in the same boat having to speak English the whole time and all of the students help each other out”

itchy feet

itchy feetは、ここから出ていきたい、どこか新しい場所へ行きたい、という気分を表す意味があります。
常に旅行のことを意味するわけではなく、どこか他の場所へ引っ越したい、転職したい、という気分の時にも使えます。

“出かけたくてまたウズウズしてきたよ。次の休日の予定を決めないと。”

 “この会社にもう10年勤めているんだ。そろそろ次に移るタイミングだと思ってるよ。”


Hit the road

Hit the roadはその場を去ることを意味します。

“招待してくれてありがとう、とっても楽しい時間を過ごせたよ。でも申し訳ないけどもう行かなきゃ。明日早起きなんだ。”


In the same boat

In the same boatは、他の人が自分と同じ境遇や立場にあることを意味します。

“来週末のパーティー、恥ずかしがらずに来てください。ずっと英語で会話をするのは私たちみんな一緒ですし、生徒さん同士助け合いながらできますので。”

Hello there everyone, today I won’t be giving you travel English so to speak , more like a few phrases to talk about things I did in Golden Week, which I spent in Osaka and Yamaguchi with my family.

Firstly, I don’t usually enjoy going to Yamaguchi so much but sometimes it is nice to just get away from it all relax.

There isn’t much to do in my wife’s hometown, but it was nice to spend some quality time with my kids.

As some of you know, I’m petrified of flying but this time it seemed like no big deal.

I love Osaka city, it is a bustling and vibrant place and I’ve been there many times but, it seems to have become a bit of a tourist trap in the centre recently.

It was good to see my friend from Scotland again, we hit the town on Saturday night in Osaka and had a good chance to catch up with each other again. 

Of course I got quite drunk that night and tried to walk back to my hotel from Namba to Juso. It turned out to be really far, I got lost and didn’t have a clue where I was.

I think that is probably enough for today, hope that comes in handy.

みなさんこんにちは、今日はトラベル英会話については多くを語らず、ゴールデンウィークに家族で山口と大阪へ行ったときのことについて、いくつかのフレーズを紹介したいと思います。

まず、私は普段山口に行くのをそんなに楽しめないのですが、時には全てから解放されてリラックスできるので好きです。

妻の出身地（山口）ではあまりすることはないのですが、こどもたちとはとても貴重な時間を過ごすことができました。

数人の方は知ってると思いますが、私は飛行機がとっても怖いです。でも今回はそんなに大きな問題ではなかったです。

大阪は賑やかで活気があって、私は大好きです。大阪へは何度も行ったことがありますが、ここ最近中心部はツアリストトラップ(観光客向けにどこも高い値段がつけられている)になってきているように見えました。

スコットランド出身の友達に会えたことはとても良かったです。土曜の夜に大阪の街へ一緒に出かけ、お互いの近況を報告するのにとてもいい機会でした。

もちろんその夜は酔っ払い、難波から十三のホテルまで歩いて帰ろうとしましたが、とっても遠く、道に迷い自分がどこにいるのかわからなくなりました。

今日はこのくらいで十分でしょう。

Hi there everyone, the other day I was at ward office and I remembered how difficult it used to be to fill out a form when I first got here so here is what some of the things written of forms mean.

  • Sex   M/ F

M is for male and F is for female

  • D.O.B

This means date of birth. Remember that in the U.K we often give the month before the day so if your birthday is June 5th 1998 it would be 06/05/98

  • Name
  • Given/ First (name/ name)

This means your first name and middle name if you have one

  • Family/ Surname/ Last Name

All of these mean your family name

  • Mr
  • Mrs
  • Miss
  • Master

Mr. is for men Mrs is for married women, miss is for unmarried women and girls and master is for boys

  • Passport
  • current visa ( spousal, work permit, working holiday, student)
  • Insurance Number

You need this if you are going to work in the U.K

  • Address

Remember to start with flat number, building name, area, larger area, city/ county, and country

  • country of origin
